Juneteenth 2024: Derryl Reed talks about the history of Juneteenth and how the annual celebration in West Bloomfield came to be. Thank you Splash CCTV for the opportunity to share our work in the community!

The Juneteenth story is an American story.

Commemorating National Freedom Day

Juneteenth in the WB is a free, fun, family-friendly event. All are welcome to celebrate our community's diversity & strength and honor the day the final enslaved people were emancipated in June 1865. Celebrate the countless contributions of African Americans to our nation.

The youth are our future. Let's all do better... for them.

President Barack Obama said,

"Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory, or an acceptance of  the way things are.  Instead, it's a celebration of progress.  It's an  affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, things  do get better.  America can change."
